Photo Essay: Terrunho, wines with terroir and soul.

Rio Minho, Ponte de Mouro, Monção, Portugal
This story begins in the River Mouro's valley (Melgaço) all the way to the left bank of the River Minho, in Ponte de Mouro (Monção).

On the slopes the vineyards occupy a prominent place under various forms of conduction. An enduring legacy.

The vineyard is a visual signature of the landscape. In these communities the vineyards establish the boundaries between properties.

This has always been the home of José Domingues, the creator of Terrunho d'Alma wines, a name that truly conveys José's essence, his origins, and his life's experiences.

From these ancient vines, José draws the wisdom from previous generations.

Today, these vineyards offer us wines full of character, from an almost untouched place. Micro terroirs are created by the different slopes, shades and the relative distance to the river.

The wild strawberries can't escape José's trained eye.

From childhood games to the present day, the "hunting" for wild berries is always an experience.

The continuity and preservation of traditional grape varieties is assured, at least here.

José knows every inch of this soil, recognizing imperceptible nuance between rocks, bugs and flowers.

Here granite takes many forms, including shale.

Terrunho d'Alma wines have a natural freshness. Where does it come from?

Have you ever heard of minerality and authenticity? Of wines that carry the origin? Look no further.

The pure, fresh, soothing-sounding water is another inspiration for José, and it justifies his effort to keep everything pristine. The result? Wines full or terroir and soul.
